Ad-hoc release - KWS revises forecast for 2007/2008 upward / seed sales in spring better than expected

Einbeck, May 28, 2008 – Seasonal business at the seed company KWS SAAT AG (ISIN: DE0007074007) was very positive in the 2008 sowing season, exceeding the company’s own sales and earnings forecasts. In the first nine months of fiscal 2007/2008, consolidated net sales rose by about 13% to €483.6 million (previous year: €428.3 million). Operating profit (EBIT) increased by 2.5% to €93.8 million (previous year: €91.5 million). Weaker than expected sugarbeet business was compensated for by higher net sales of corn, rapeseed and cereals.

The Executive Board anticipates that net sales will grow to approximately €585 million (previous year: €540 million) and operating profit (EBIT) by some 10 % (previous year: €63.9 million) at the end of the fiscal year (June 30, 2008). The quarterly report will be available at www.kws.com/ir on May 29, 2008 (as of 7:30 a.m.).
